Zoanthids are also relatively easy to keep and are also great growers compared to other corals and can grow from 1 polyp to 10 polyps a month.
Most Zoanthid & Palythoa corals feed via their symbiotic zooaxenthelle through photosynthesis however some zoas & paly’s can actively catch small particles of food found in the water column. Target feeding helps, especially with larger Z & P’s however it is not neccessary.
Different Z & P strains can be added onto your reef closely together creating a ‘zoa garden’ however when doing this please keep in mind that not all zoas grow at the same rate and some may dominate others by growing around them and enclosing them. For a harmonious zoa garden zoa’s with the same/similar growth rate should be placed together.
